Arrival in Kruja
The tour begins with visits to the Skanderbeg Museum and the Ethnographic Museum, which preserves a rich collection of original household items from the late 19th century. Afterwards, we walk through the famous Old Bazaar of Kruja, well known for its traditional handicrafts and souvenirs.
Kruja was the center of Albanian resistance against the Ottoman Empire under the leadership of Albania’s National Hero, Skanderbeg. For 25 years, he prevented the Ottoman army from advancing into Western Europe, earning the title “Athleta Christi”, bestowed by the Pope of that time.
Free time for lunch in the city.
Afternoon departure to Durrës, one of the oldest cities in Albania. We will visit several important archaeological remains, including the Roman Amphitheater, the Forum, the Archaeological Museum, the Venetian Tower, and the ancient city walls.
Durrës was founded in 627 BC under the name Epidamnus by Greek settlers from Corcyra (modern-day Corfu) and Corinth. Ancient Greek and Roman authors referred to it as the “City of Worship” due to its many temples, statues, and monuments.
A coffee break at one of the panoramic bars, followed by the return to Vlora.
